Choose the coach and the coaching hours you want to invest.

The average person spends 90,000 hours at work over their lifetime, so how you spend your days is how you spend your life. It’s important to invest in your career and get this right. Career planning and development doesn’t have to be a constant struggle or something that’s always confined to the too hard basket.

Most people’s careers are incremental or accidental. They start in a job and as new opportunities come along, they weigh them up and from time to time, make job changes. They don’t have a clear view of where they want their career to be in 5-6 years’ time, let alone a plan for getting there. If this is you, then you may not be fulfilling your career potential. You may not be doing the best possible work that you can, nor be as happy, fulfilled or rewarded as you could be from your work.

Out of anything in your career – this is the one aspect you have most control. The difference between those who develop to their full potential and those that don’t is whether they seize that control by creating and capturing career opportunities – rather than waiting for them to fall into their lap.

Do any of these statements below apply to you:

  • I need clarification on the direction that I would like to take my career in the future.
  • I need to complete a Development Plan with specific and measurable actions for achieving my future career goals for the next 6+ years.
  • I’m unhappy in my current career and I’d like to reinvigorate it by exploring other options.
  • I’m burnt out and want to take a role for a period of time that will enable me to re-charge. How do I approach this and futureproof my career brand?
  • I’m well paid however I don’t like my job and feel my career has lost proactive direction. I feel trapped. I need a plan and actions to get out of this situation.
  • My career is okay however I think there may be other options I haven’t explored that I’d more suited to, but I’m not sure what nor how to identify these.
  • It’s time for a career change but I don’t know what to do and even if I did, I don’t know how I’d achieve my goal.
  • I like my career however I don’t know whether to remain a generalist or a specialist.
  • I’d like to remain a technical specialist and still advance my career but not by having to take on management and leadership responsibilities. Doing this efficiently and effectively is what I need.
  • There’s pressure to advance to more senior roles however I don’t want to. I do however want to benefit from career development.
  • My career has been rather ‘accidental.’ It just happened. I went with the flow and now I want to be more planful.
  • I have a good job but not a good career path. I’d like to create a career plan with targets, milestones, and a sense of achievement.
  • I know where I want to get to in my career, however I don’t know how to get there.
  • I don’t receive meaningful career development support from my employer so now I want to take control of my career and development opportunities with a sense of purpose.
  • I’m missing out on promotions at work and need a plan, resources and skills for attaining the roles I deserve.

If any of the statements above apply to you, then you will be seeking clarity about where you want to head in your career, and importantly, have a clear plan for achieving this.

The MyCareerDevelopment Planning programme enables you to take control of your career and be intentional with your career development. The career development tools, resources and coaching help you to gain clarity about a future career direction that you would like to pursue and works through the steps of what you will need to do to get there. You come away with clearness and a detailed plan to implement to achieve your career goals. You will feel you are in the driver’s seat and know the route you will be taking to get to your desired destination.

Clifton Strengths Finder 34

We highly recommend you include the Clifton Strengths Finder option, which will equip you with key insights and language through the Clifton SF34 report. Your coach will explain your talent DNA and your unique combination of 34 Clifton Strengths themes, which provide a powerful platform to advance your career in the direction you want. The themes from the report and coach feedback give you a way to describe what you naturally do best and what you might need help from others to accomplish. Your talents and strengths are incorporated in your career plan and communications, which helps with alignment and leveraging your potential.

Programme outline:

Over 4 hours face-to-face coaching and 1 hour of coach preparation time (5 hours total) we’ll work with you to review your career to-date, identify what is and isn’t working for you currently and explore future career direction options. We’ll test these options and get clarity about a future career path that you would like to pursue and then create a career development plan for you to achieve your goals.

Being your best self means playing to your strengths at work and everywhere else. You can discover your strengths and learn how to use them to thrive with the Clifton Strengths Finder. There is an option to do Strengths Finder in conjunction with the MyCareerDevelopment Planning programme. Doing this will identify your natural abilities, or aptitudes, and your strengths. Clients consistently tell us how valuable they find this. The new insights are then applied to career planning and can also be used for enhancing your CV and value proposition and selling yourself in interviews. Completing Strengths Finder requires an investment of an additional 2 hours of your time. Up to 1 hour to complete a profile and peruse the results and 1 hour for one-on-one coaching feedback and discussion about your report. For more information about this option see the Strengths Finder coaching option (Strengths Finder | MyCareerBrand).

Whilst each career development planning coaching session is structured in its delivery, the solution is designed to flex to meet your needs – whether it’s via face-to-face coaching or video conferencing.

We also offer to video record your coaching sessions so that you can review these on-line as many times as you like. This has proven to be very popular with our clients as a powerful way of recalling the process, reflecting on key areas, and re-capturing the essence of your coaching sessions in your own time.
